It all started in the Perm region. The European Forum for Young Professionals “Pilorama Lab” took place at the Memorial Centre of Political Repressions “Perm 36” in 2012 and 2013. The core idea of “Pilorama Lab” was to give young professionals from all over Europe an opportunity to come together, exchange ideas and discuss civil society issues, as well as to transfer their knowledge to the International Civic Forum “Pilorama,” thus reducing generational gaps between professionals and extending partnership networks.
In 2015, the idea of the Lab was relaunched in the European Union: “Europe Lab” was born.
The first Young Professionals Platform “Europe Lab” took place in July 2015 in Vilnius and Raiseiniai, Lithuania, in cooperation with the Raseiniai Local History Museum. Some 80 participants from more than 20 countries and 20 workshop coordinators, speakers, guests, panel discussants, organisers and other individuals gathered on this occasion. Since the opening edition, a “Europe Lab” has been organised every year in different locations in Europe, all connected to the topic of Historical Memory.
In 2018, “Europe Lab” took place in Piteşti, Romania, at the Piteşti Prison Memorial. And last year, the Association Quarantasettezeroquattro (47/04) hosted the Lab in the neighbouring towns Nova Gorica, Slovenia and Gorizia, Italy.
